Midnight Generation awoke from their 1970s dream of lustrous chrome nostalgia to deliver their newest album, Tender Love, into the sweaty palms of those begging for a modern Saturday Night Fever epidemic. The Mexican artists’ fourth album is a calculated amalgamation of lethal boogie-inducing elements. Immediately pulling you to the dance floor is a symphony of disco strings and flavorful falsettos on the album’s first track, “Energy,” where a familiar far out groove is accompanied by a new age, electronic tang. Bright, percussive guitar licks and robotic serenades help “Don’t Wait Up” quench the unbearable thirst we suffer living in a post-Daft Punk era, while offering a far taller drink than a simple nod to the late electronic duo.
The timeless yearning felt with “Good Intentions,” “Back to Love,” and “Shinin’” will have you seeing the dance floor through an old-Hollywood, ethereal lens. This project is tidy and purposeful, while boasting tangible textures and vivid colors; all of which will land Tender Love’s succulent tracks on your Spring/Summer playlist.
